Colleges with genetics majors usually offer a general program that focuses on the scientific study of the genetic material. All living organisms have DNA. I’m not smart enough to know the mechanisms of how genes regulate, mutate, repair or interact. Study genetics at one of these schools and perhaps you’ll be the expert on genetics!
You will probably have to be familiar with the standard science courses – chemistry, organic chemistry, data and research, biology. You may even be required to take a few advanced or genetics specific courses, likely to come with lab hours.
STEM majors are difficult. Successful students are usually those who put in the effort of studying, taking meaningful notes, and dedicating time to understand the course content. The best students also tend to seek out lab work or additional assistantships to complement their academic work.
